Jindal Steel’s President and Head of Human Resources, Sukhjit S. Pasricha, has stepped down from the role effective 31 October 2026, a little over three months after he was brought in by the OP Jindal Group flagship.
The company flagged the exit to the stock exchanges on 1 November 2026 through a Regulation 30 filing under SEBI’s Listing Regulations, signed by Whole-time Director Damodar Mittal. The filing confirmed that Pasricha, classified as Senior Management Personnel, has not been with the firm since the close of business hours on 31 October 2026.
In the letter to the Managing Director, Pasricha pointed to personal commitments as the reason for stepping away. He thanked the company for the opportunity and said he would help with an orderly handover.
His hire was announced on 23 July 2026 with a 24 July effective date, as part of a wider leadership refresh at the company that also saw Sandeep Modi come in as Chief Financial Officer and Rajiv Kumar as Chief Operating Officer. A three-month exit is unusually brief for a C-suite HR role at an Indian listed company of Jindal Steel’s size.
Jindal Steel did not name a successor, acting or confirmed, in the disclosure. No change to the wider HR leadership structure was announced alongside the exit.
Pasricha came into Jindal Steel with over three decades of HR work spanning the manufacturing, aviation, telecom, and banking and financial services sectors, as the company itself had noted at the time of his appointment. His most recent role before Jindal Steel was as Group Chief Human Resources Officer at InterGlobe Aviation, parent of IndiGo, where he spent close to four years. Kanwal Jeet Singh Bakshi took over as CHRO when Pasricha left the airline.
Pasricha has had two spells at IndiGo. In the gap between them, he spent about three and a half years as Group CHRO (President – HR) at Kotak Mahindra Bank, a job he started in May 2019 and left in November 2022. Earlier, from January 2018 to May 2019, he led HR and administration at Bajaj Finance. The longest leg of his career was with the Bharti Airtel Group, close to 13 years, which included a Senior Vice President – HR role at Airtel Africa overseeing HR transformation across 17 countries.
The HR exit comes amid a season of senior movement at Jindal Steel. Then-CEO Gautam Malhotra left in July 2026, citing personal commitments, after just nine months in the top job.
Any further moves on the HR President role or the broader senior management structure will come to light through subsequent company announcements and exchange filings.
