Jakson Group plans to invest ₹6,863 crore in an integrated solar manufacturing plant in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh, with the facility expected to generate about 2,000 jobs across its three construction phases, the company said on 26 October 2026.

The plant will come up at Meedivemula village in Kurnool and will add silicon ingot, wafer and solar cell production capacity, taking Jakson beyond its current solar module assembly footprint. The company presently operates a 1.2 GW solar module production facility in Greater Noida and is building a 6 GW integrated facility at Maksi in Madhya Pradesh.

The Kurnool project is being developed under the Andhra Pradesh government’s Integrated Clean Energy Policy 2024, which aims to attract ₹10 lakh crore in green energy investments and create 7.5 lakh jobs across the clean energy value chain. The policy has already drawn Indosol, Premier Energies, Jupiter Renewables and others into the state’s solar manufacturing cluster.

Jakson has previously described its approach to large-scale solar integration in these terms: “Our fully integrated facility and unique ‘four-in-one’ business model as a manufacturer, developer, EPC, and O&M provider aims to contribute to meeting India’s energy needs and help position the country as a global solar leader,” said Gagan Chanana, Joint Managing Director and CEO of Jakson Solar Modules and Cells.

The expansion comes as India works to reduce dependence on imported solar components. India’s current solar cell manufacturing base stands at around 7 GW, well short of module demand. The Centre has layered the sector with ALMM listings, PLI incentives and basic customs duties to shift the balance toward domestic production.

For the state, Jakson’s commitment adds to a running list of solar manufacturing wins. Minister for Human Resources Development Nara Lokesh has said the state aims to create 3 lakh green energy jobs over the next five years, backed by a dedicated Energy University in Amaravati and skill centres run with APSSDC. Jakson has not yet announced the construction timeline or phase-wise capacity split for the Kurnool plant.
