Boeing India has appointed Sarma Chillara as its Executive Director and Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) for India and South Asia. Prior to this, he served as Member of the Board – Human Resources & People Services at Škoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited.
With nearly two decades of experience spanning the Automotive, Banking, Consulting, and Retail sectors, Sarma is known for his strategic vision and people-first leadership style. He has played a key role in driving large-scale organisational transformations, fostering inclusive workplace cultures, and promoting employee wellbeing initiatives.
In the early phase of his career, Sarma began his professional journey with Future Group India as a Senior Executive – Human Resources. In 2008, he joined Citi as an Assistant Manager – Human Resources and was later promoted to Manager – Human Resources in 2010.
After spending over three years with Citi, he moved to the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) as a Team Leader before taking on the role of Senior Manager – Human Resources at Škoda Auto Volkswagen India. Sarma’s expertise spans global talent acquisition, stakeholder management, executive search, leadership development, organisational effectiveness, and employer branding, among other areas.
Academically, Sarma holds a degree in Commerce and an MBA in Human Resources from the Welingkar Institute of Management. He has also completed the CHRO Programme from the Wharton School.
