The Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES) has filed a complaint with the Ministry of Labour and Employment over what it calls a prolonged and unexplained onboarding delay affecting more than 200 students and young engineers selected by Wipro under its “Elite Hiring 2025” process.
According to NITES, the affected candidates took part in Wipro’s campus recruitment in February 2025 and cleared the technical and voice assessments. They received offer letters in July 2025 and Letters of Intent the following month, accepting within the stipulated period.
The union said the candidates reconfirmed their interest in December 2025, appeared for and cleared the Codility technical assessment in March 2026, and received official clearance communication the same month. They completed background verification on 26 March 2026, resolving an address verification query on the same day.
“Despite completing every requirement communicated by Wipro, these students and young engineers have still not received a definite onboarding or joining date,” NITES wrote in its letter.
The complaint echoes an earlier NITES representation dated 19 January, addressed to Union Labour and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, over delayed onboarding of fresh graduates hired through Wipro’s Turbo and NextGen Talent programmes.
In that letter, the union said candidates repeatedly approached the company through official channels but received either no response or, in its words, “vague and automated responses referring to business demand, future batches or tentative timelines that were never honoured.”
NITES has flagged the pan-India spread of the complaints as evidence of a systemic recruitment issue rather than an isolated lapse, noting that many affected graduates were unable to pursue alternative employment because of campus placement rules, while some declined confirmed offers elsewhere in light of Wipro’s assurances.
The delays come amid a muted fresher-intake environment at Wipro. On the company’s Q3 earnings call, CHRO Saurabh Govil said campus recruitment that quarter had been limited, with the company expecting to hire 7,500 to 8,000 freshers in FY26 against an earlier guidance of about 10,000.
