Anjali Byce takes charge of the people function at one of India’s largest renewable-energy companies, stepping in as Group Chief Human Resource Officer at Suzlon Energy with effect from 29 July 2026. She has been designated as senior management personnel of the company and joins as part of a planned leadership transition.
Byce arrives from Tata Motors, where she most recently served as Chief Human Resources Officer for the passenger vehicles business, leading the people agenda across that portfolio. Before Tata Motors, she spent over six years as Group CHRO at Sterlite Technologies from 2019 to 2025, steering the company’s global people strategy through a phase of growth and transformation. Earlier in her career, she held senior HR leadership roles at SKF India, Thermax, and Cummins, spanning HR, industrial relations, and health, safety, and environment. Her earlier experience also includes stints at Bajaj Allianz Life Insurance and Tata Motors.
Across close to 27 years, Byce has built depth in organisational development, talent management, leadership development, culture transformation, industrial relations and HR strategy, working across manufacturing, automotive, engineering, technology and financial services.
She holds a master’s degree in Applied Psychology from the University of Delhi and a postgraduate diploma in Human Resources from the Symbiosis Centre for Management and Human Resource Development (SCMHRD), and has completed executive education at IMD Business School. Her work has drawn industry recognition, including a CHRO of the Year award and a place among the Top 100 Most Talented Global HR Leaders. She is also a published author.
Suzlon described Byce’s appointment as an important addition to its leadership team as the company advances its Suzlon 2.0 strategy.
Byce succeeds Rajendra Mehta, whose last working day was 28 July 2026 following his resignation to pursue a career in consulting. Mehta had led the group’s people function since joining in December 2022, an association of nearly four years that Suzlon acknowledged on his departure.
Suzlon Group is a Pune-headquartered renewable-energy solutions company with more than 22 GW of wind-energy capacity installed across 17 countries. In her new role, Byce is expected to oversee the group’s HR function as its renewable-energy operations and workforce requirements expand, positioning the people agenda at the centre of the company’s next phase of growth.
