Diageo India has introduced a new leave policy called Fertility Support Leave. This policy reinforces a commitment to building an inclusive and progressive workplace that supports employees through significant life moments.
The policy went into effect in January 2026 and is designed to support employees undergoing fertility treatment, as well as those supporting a partner or planning parenthood. As such, it covers a range of medically assisted fertility procedures.
Full-time employees of Diageo India undergoing fertility treatments will be eligible for up to 10 days of paid Fertility Support Leave per year. The leaves can be taken flexibly — in full or half days, consecutively or across multiple occasions. This is in a bid to help employees balance medical needs, recovery, and work commitments with greater ease.
Shilpa Vaid, Chief Human Resources Officer, Diageo India, stated, “As women embark on deeply personal fertility journeys shaped by choice, circumstance, and sometimes medical realities, workplaces play an important role in offering understanding, flexibility, and support. Fertility treatments often involve physical, emotional, and time-intensive demands, and thoughtful workplace policies can help reduce stress, stigma, and career trade-offs.”
The new leave policy dovetails with Diageo India’s existing suite of progressive policies, including gender-neutral parental leave, pregnancy-loss leave, flexible work arrangements, and caregiver support. This reinforces the company’s focus on inclusion, well-being, and sustained career growth.
