Welspun Corp has appointed Rakesh Mehta as Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO).
In his new role, Mehta will drive the company’s global people strategy, focusing on leadership development, cultural transformation, and organisational excellence as the company strengthens its diversified portfolio across infrastructure, building materials, and global manufacturing solutions.
With over three decades of experience, Mehta is an expert in HR transformation, industrial relations, and people development, having held key roles that shaped talent strategies and business outcomes. His diverse experience and unique insights will surely make him an asset to Welspun’s people operations.
Prior to joining Welspun, Mehta was the CHRO and Executive Director for Uno Minda. He took up the role in April 2024 and held it until September 2025. From December 2018 to April 2024, Mehta was a part of JSW Energy as Executive Vice President & Head – HR. He also worked for Reliance Industries from October 2015 to December 2018 as Senior Vice President & Head HR (Refining business cluster).
For over eight years, Mehta was associated with General Motors. He joined the company in September 2007 as General Manager – HR and then became Director – Human Resources in April 2010, holding the latter role until October 2015.
Mehta also worked for Asian Paints for more than four years. He was appointed as Manager – HR in July 2003 and was then elevated to Senior Manager – HR in July 2004. In July 1999, Mehta joined Guardian Industries as Executive – HR and worked there until July 2003.
From July 1995 to July 1999, Mehta was a Personnel Executive for Crompton Greaves. He has also worked for Rallis India, first as Executive – HR (July 1993 to July 1994) and then as Assistant Manager – HR (July 1994 – July 1995).
