United Spirits Limited has appointed Chinmay Sharma as its new Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), marking a leadership transition in the company’s people function. He will assume the role effective 5 March 2026, succeeding Shilpa Vaid, who is set to move into a new position within the Diageo group.
The appointment was approved by the company’s board of directors following the recommendation of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee. Sharma will join the senior management team and oversee the organisation’s overall HR strategy, talent development, and culture transformation initiatives.
A seasoned HR leader with more than two decades of global experience, Sharma has held leadership roles across India, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Switzerland. Over the course of his career, he has worked with multinational organisations including GSK, Philip Morris International, and Procter & Gamble, where he led large-scale organisational transformation, capability-building programmes, and people strategy initiatives across diverse markets.
His professional background spans end-to-end HR leadership, including managing complex and unionised work environments while driving agile and performance-oriented workplace cultures. Sharma is recognised for his expertise in leadership development, organisational effectiveness, and building high-performing teams.
Meanwhile, Vaid will transition to another leadership role within the Diageo group, concluding her tenure as CHRO at United Spirits at the end of March 2026.
The leadership change comes as United Spirits continues to strengthen its organisational capabilities and people strategy to support business growth and evolving market dynamics.
