A viral social media post claiming a Micron India employee earning around ₹7 to 8 lakh annually received a Diwali package worth nearly ₹20 lakh in cash and restricted stock units (RSUs) has drawn widespread attention, with other claimed insiders backing the account on online forums.
“That’s almost 20L for someone earning 7-8L annually,” an X user wrote in the post that set off the discussion. The user later clarified that the roughly ₹12 lakh cash payment was made along with the employee’s October salary, with approximately Rs 2.7 to 2.8 lakh deducted in taxes, and that an additional ₹8 lakh in RSUs would vest over the next few years.
One commenter on the viral thread said: “My friend who’s new joinee in micron got a whopping a 6.5 lakhs of amount as bonus. As company distribute his October month salary and bonus at the same time.”
The scale of the reported payout aligns with a broader semiconductor-industry trend of elevated bonuses tied to AI-driven demand. Micron recently offered its Taiwan employees a lump-sum bonus package estimated at up to five years’ worth of salary for eligible workers, consisting of an annual performance bonus between 7.5 and 12.5 months of salary, a mass-production bonus of 20% of annual salary, and a one-time cash payment of over $31,000 per employee.
The specific figures around the individual Micron India employee’s reported ₹20 lakh package have not been independently confirmed by the company. Micron has not issued an official statement on the viral claim.
