ICICI Life Insurance plans to recruit 20,000 women advisors across India by the end of FY27 under its Narishakti initiative. The announcement was timed with Navratri and marked the second anniversary of Narishakti, which the insurer launched in 2024 to help women build careers as financial planners.
As of September 30, 2026, the company had more than 78,000 women advisors on its rolls, who contributed 45% of its agency business while making up around 32% of its total advisor workforce. In Bengaluru, Kerala and Mumbai, women advisors accounted for over 50% of agency business.
The company also said 47% of its women advisors had been with it for more than 10 years as of September 30, 2026, and over 500 had qualified for the Million Dollar Round Table, an international association for high-performing life insurance and financial services professionals.
Amish Banker, Chief Distribution Officer at ICICI Life Insurance, said the initiative aims to equip women advisors with the skills and support needed “to expand their role in the insurance sector and contribute to the government’s vision of insurance for all by 2047.”
The 20,000-hire target sits alongside the insurer’s broader agency build-out: the company recruited more than 36,000 advisers in H1 FY27 and operated a network of over 2.41 lakh advisers, per its Q2 FY27 investor materials.
