Pooja Ranjan has joined Capital One India as Head of Human Resources, bringing more than 25 years of global HR experience to the Bengaluru-based arm of the US-headquartered financial services firm. Her appointment was announced by Capital One Financial Corporation on 7 October 2026.
Her mandate at Capital One India covers leadership planning, talent strategy, strategic workforce planning and organisational transformation, with a brief to steer the people function at a Global Capability Centre that houses data scientists, software engineers and technology leaders working on the firm’s data, artificial intelligence and machine learning agenda.
In a statement issued with the appointment, Ranjan said she was joining Capital One at an inflexion point for the business. “Capital One has set the standard for leveraging data science, artificial intelligence, and machine learning to transform financial services. I am thrilled to join the team in Bengaluru at such an exciting juncture and look forward to fostering a vibrant culture where top data scientists, software engineers, and technology leaders can solve some of the most complex challenges in modern finance,” she stated.
Ranjan spent more than two decades at IBM. She began in 2000, with the initial three years on the Asia Pacific compensation design team. Between January 2021 and March 2023, she served as process transformation leader for talent and transformation, and by the time she moved on from IBM in 2024, she had taken on the role of HR reinvention and change leader, a mandate that covered the redesign of the HR operating model and digital workplace initiatives.
