M. Sridhar will lead BHEL’s Corporate Human Resources function and drive key HR policies and strategic people initiatives across the Public Sector Engineering and Manufacturing Enterprise, following his assumption of charge as Director (Human Resources) on the company’s Board.
The appointment, announced through BHEL’s official statement and the company’s exchange filing to the BSE under Regulation 30 of SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015, follows communication received from the Ministry of Heavy Industries and approval by BHEL’s Board at its meeting held on 22 October 2026. His tenure as Director (Human Resources) is scheduled to run until 31 August 2028, in line with the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) recommendation received earlier.
“A seasoned professional with proven leadership capabilities, Sridhar brings with him over three decades of comprehensive experience across diverse functional domains. His strong understanding of manufacturing operations, industrial relations, commercial management and human resource leadership is expected to further strengthen BHEL’s people strategy and support the company’s growth and transformation agenda,” the company said in its official announcement.
Sridhar, 57, was serving as Executive Director (Human Resources) at BHEL’s Corporate Office in New Delhi before his elevation to the Board. In that role, he headed the Corporate Human Resource function and drove key HR policies and strategic people initiatives across the organisation. At the Corporate Office, he played a pivotal role in formulating and implementing HR policies, strengthening performance management systems and driving strategic human resource initiatives aligned with BHEL’s organisational objectives.
Before becoming Executive Director (HR), Sridhar served as General Manager and Head of Corporate Human Resource. His earlier career at BHEL has spanned several leadership positions at the company’s Hyderabad unit and Corporate Office, including leading manufacturing operations of steam turbines, gas turbines and centrifugal compressors, and heading the Contracts Management, Commercial, Marketing, Productivity & Management Services, Planning & Development, Erection & Construction, Central Dispatch and Industrial Relations functions.
Sridhar joined BHEL as an Engineer Trainee in 1990 and brings over 36 years of rich and diversified experience spanning manufacturing, commercial operations, project execution, industrial relations, human resource management and corporate policy.
He is a Mechanical Engineering graduate from CBIT, Osmania University, Hyderabad, and holds an M.Tech in CAD/CAM from JNTU, Hyderabad, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration (PGDM) from XLRI, Jamshedpur.
