Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Reserve Bank of India’s ₹169 crore data centre and Cybersecurity Training Institute at Info Valley-II in Jatni, near Bhubaneswar, Odisha, on October 25, 2026.
The facility, spread across 18.55 acres, will host mission-critical payment and settlement systems along with other flagship RBI initiatives, the government said in a statement, adding that it will widen the reach, efficiency and reliability of digital financial services and form the secure digital foundation for India’s increasingly technology-driven financial economy. The foundation stone for the project was laid by then RBI governor Shaktikanta Das on March 22, 2023.
“Right here, the role of this new cybersecurity institute becomes crucial,” Modi said at the inauguration, addressing evolving cyber threats facing the financial sector. He said the past decade had focused on banking the unbanked, while the coming decade would be dedicated to making banking more efficient and reliable with the support of the new data centre and robust computing systems.
The Cybersecurity Training Institute will provide specialised training and promote research in cybersecurity, enterprise computing and emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and quantum computing, offering a dedicated institutional platform for sector-wide capability development. Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said the Jatni facility will be the second data centre of its kind after the one in Navi Mumbai and will add to the state’s development journey.
Police deployed around 2,100 personnel for the Prime Minister’s visit and imposed traffic restrictions along the route connecting the RBI facility to the airport.
