A new report has found that 42% of employees believe their employers, despite having a policy for worker wellbeing, fail to execute it effectively. The report, titled ‘Beyond the Policy: Lived Experience and Micro-Rituals in Employee Wellbeing’, points to implementation, rather than the absence of policy, as the central gap in workplace wellbeing.

The study was produced by workforce solutions and HR services provider Genius HRTech and market research firm DigiPoll. It is based on inputs from 1,884 employees across sectors, including information technology, manufacturing, finance and BFSI, hospitality and FMCG, gathered through an online survey conducted between 1 July and 3 August 2026.

According to the report, 21% of respondents said wellbeing is embedded in their everyday work culture, while 42% felt that good policies exist but execution varies. The report described this as a sign that implementation remains a key challenge for organisations. It also found that an always-on work culture is a major stressor, with 42% of respondents identifying constant availability demands as their biggest source of pressure.

The report noted that wellbeing has become a significant factor in how employees evaluate their jobs, with 42% identifying it as a top priority when assessing an employer. Taken together, the findings suggest a widening gap between wellbeing commitments on paper and the daily experience of employees at work.
