Citi has promoted Nisha Padbidri to Global Head of HR Partnership for Technology, Operations, HR and Functions.
“With India’s increasing importance in the Citi universe, both in terms of business growth and talent development, several senior global roles are now moving to the country,” Citi India shared on LinkedIn. “Citigroup has appointed Nisha Padbidri as Global Head of HR Partnership for Technology, Operations, HR and Functions.”
The leadership role, for the first time, is now based out of Mumbai, India. Through this position, Padbidri will lead the HR business partnership for more than 140,000 employees, representing over 62% of Citi’s global workforce, which spans 98 countries.
In her new position, Padbidri will focus on, in her own words, “integrating AI, automation, and data-driven decision-making with empathy and purpose.” The seasoned Citi employee believes that the HR leadership mandate is no longer restricted to a geography. Whether it is embedding AI into the workforce or promoting inclusive talent, the mandate is global and the impact human.
“Her [Padbidri’s] appointment reflects the maturing of India’s leadership pipeline and the critical role the region now plays. It also reflects Citi’s continued investment in building globally distributed talent centres,” Citi India stated.
Padbidri has been a part of Citi for over 29 years. Throughout her time at the company, she took up multiple roles and has worked across countries, including Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines. Having joined Citi in May 1996 as Assistant Manager, Mortgage Operations, Padbidri rose through the ranks to reach the position she is in today.
