After reporting the results of the last quarter of FY2025, Wipro’s Chief Human Resource Officer, Saurabh Govil, stated that the company has not yet made any concrete decisions regarding salary hikes for the upcoming year.

“We are still very far from that time, and in this uncertain environment, we will decide closer to the date,” Govil stated, according to Moneycontrol.

Notably, Wipro announced its last salary hikes in October of 2024, which were made effective from September 1, 2024. As such, the IT giant is content to wait and watch how things turn out as the year progresses.

Govil’s comment regarding salary hikes for the company was much anticipated after TCS announced its plan to delay salary increments this year. TCS attributed its delays to the increasing unrest in the global market. Officials at Wipro also seem to be paying close attention to the increasing uncertainties as US President Donald Trump’s tariffs contained to affect the global market.

“I don’t have a crystal ball that tells me how it (macroeconomic issues) goes… going from the context of FY25-26, the uncertainties have dramatically increased,” Chief Executive Officer Srinivas Pallia stated, adding that the tariffs against China and the trade tension between the US and the Europe will certainly have a huge impact on the business demand of the company.

While talking about the plans for financial year 2025-2026, Govil shared that the company plans and recruiting 10,000 freshers by the end of the year. However, the entry-level salaries will remain steady at ₹3-4 lakh per annum, a rate that has not increased in the past decade.

“This (freshers’ salary) is a demand-supply issue. It’s not a very Wipro-centric issue. It is a market-driving and industry-driven issue. I can only say that any level in the organisation will always get competitive compensation. As things change, we will also change it,” Govil stated as per News18.

Wipro seems to have adopted a cautious approach for the upcoming year when it comes to hiring.

“We have to take it as per the company’s growth. We have geared ourselves from a plan of onboarding people, especially from campuses on a regular basis,” Govil explained. “We are very cognisant that we should not do anything which is onboard people and not deploy them, which we have burnt the fingers three years ago. We are very conscious that we do it the right way.”

For the last quarter of the financial year 2024-2025, which ended on March 31, 2025, Wipro’s attrition stood at 15%, which is slightly lower than the previous quarter’s 15.3% attrition. In fact, the company’s workforce increased by 614 to 2,33,346 during the previously mentioned quarter.

At ₹3,569.6 crore, Wipro reported a 25.9% increase in net profit for the last quarter of the financial year 2025-2026, when compared to the previous year. The company’s revenue from operations for the last quarter was reported as ₹22,504.2 crore, an increase of 1.33% when compared to the previous year’s ₹22,208.3 crore. For Q1 FY26, the company expects its IT services revenue to contract by 1.5% to 3.5% in constant currency terms.

“We expect revenue from our IT Services business segment to be in the range of $2,505 million to $2,557 million. This translates to sequential guidance of (-)3.5% to (-)1.5% in constant currency terms,” the company revealed.
