Wipro added 888 employees during the April-June 2026 quarter, taking its total workforce higher while maintaining voluntary attrition below 14%, according to its latest earnings announcement. Its total headcount now stands at 243,044, having risen from 242,156 at the end of March 2026.

The improvement reflects continued stability in the company’s workforce after several quarters of slower hiring across India’s IT services industry. The current attrition rate of 13.9% suggests that employee retention has strengthened as demand gradually recovers.

Company executives said hiring remains aligned with business requirements, with investments continuing in digital technologies, cloud, AI, and consulting capabilities. Fresh graduate hiring is also expected to continue in line with client demand and project pipelines.

While revenue growth remains measured amid cautious technology spending globally, Wipro said it remains focused on improving utilisation, operational efficiency, and profitability. Workforce planning continues to balance new hiring with productivity improvements and evolving customer demand.

The company’s latest hiring figures add to broader signs that India’s major IT firms are gradually rebuilding headcount after a prolonged period of conservative recruitment following slower global technology spending.
