U.S. Bank has appointed Cynthia O’Connor as chief human resources officer for its India operations, bringing a senior HR leader on board as the American banking major stands up its first Global Capability Centre network in the country.

O’Connor brings a career weighted heavily towards HR in large, technology-driven financial and services organisations. She most recently served as Director HR – HR Business Partner – Technology at NatWest Group. Before that, she spent more than seven years at Standard Chartered Bank as vice president and head of HR technology, where she ran HR strategy for technology across multiple geographies and supported a workforce numbering in the thousands.

“I’m delighted to share that I’ve joined U.S. Bancorp India as Chief Human Resources Officer, India,” O’Connor shared on LinkedIn. “As I begin this new chapter of global growth for U.S. Bank, I look forward to leading their people practices, talent strategies and building a strong foundation that fosters a culture of innovation, inclusion and growth.”

Her background also includes senior HR roles at Sutherland Global Services and Infosys BPO, along with a CIPD Level 7 qualification in human resource management. That mix of banking, technology and large-scale operations maps closely onto what a greenfield GCC needs in its opening chapters.
