Oracle has reportedly laid off over 100 employees in India last week as part of a larger organizational restructuring. According to a report by The Economic Times, sources suggest the decision is linked to the company’s growing focus on artificial intelligence and its continued push to streamline operations and improve efficiency.

Although initial reports suggest around 100 employees have been affected, sources indicate the actual number could run into several hundred, impacting departments such as Oracle Cloud. In termination letters reviewed by The Economic Times, the company informed employees: “Because of these changes, the decision has been taken to streamline the operations, and as a result, the position you currently hold will become redundant.”

As part of the severance package, the company is reportedly offering affected employees 15 days’ salary for each year of completed service, along with medical insurance coverage for up to a year. Some long-serving employees with 15–20 years of tenure were also given “garden leave,” allowing them a month to transition, the report noted. However, not all departures were handled smoothly. Despite the layoffs, Oracle India has not released an official statement or responded to media queries at the time of publishing.

This isn’t the first time Oracle has made headlines for layoffs. Back in August, the company announced large-scale job cuts across several countries, with India bearing the biggest impact. Reports indicated that nearly 10% of its India workforce was let go. While Oracle termed the move a “restructuring exercise,” industry experts linked it to U.S. policy changes under President Donald Trump, particularly measures to restrict offshoring and tighten H-1B visa rules.
