Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has confirmed that it will be onboarding 650 of its lateral hires, whose onboarding had been delayed for nearly three months.

As per The Times of India (TOI), TCS has sent out emails to the candidates, asking them to make themselves available for the pre-joining onboarding process. The company has, reportedly, sent out onboarding emails with some candidates receiving joining dates in October. Successful background verification will also be conducted as part of the process.

“We can confirm that we are honouring all offers that have been made, as we have always done through our history, whether it is to freshers or experienced professionals. We look forward to them joining and being a part of TCS,” TCS told TOI.

The onboard inf delays within TCS had been reported as far back as July 2025. Many of the candidates, according to The Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES), had been given joining dates but were then turned away from the office when they arrived at the location.

“When employees reached their assigned location for joining, security guards prevented them from entering the premises to speak with HR. Despite showing their offer letters, they were informed that their names were not on the onboarding list and denied entry,” Harpreet Singh Saluja, Advocate at Bombay High Court and President of NITES, had shared with EdexLive.

The Labour Ministry had even summoned TCS to discuss the issue in person. While the company and its leadership had not attended the meeting, it did state in a letter that it fully intended to honour the job offers made on behalf of TCS.

As such, the onboarding of the lateral hires, even after a long delay, comes as a welcome surprise. While it remains to be seen how many of the candidates will indeed accept the original offer, the company’s decision to honour its offers is sure to elevate the concerns of many regarding their trust in TCS.
