Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) will freeze the hiring of senior, experienced professionals and pause annual salary hikes across the globe, as per The Economic Times.
After the company’s recent announcement regarding future layoffs of more than 12,000 employees, the hiring freeze and salary hike delay are understandably making many nervous. The company has already started to phase out employees from Hyderabad, Pune, Chennai, and Kolkata as per its new benching policy, which bars employees from being on the bench for more than 35 days in a year.
In the fiscal year 2025-2026 (FY26), TCS broke its pattern by delaying its salary hikes from April 2025. The company’s Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), Milind Lakkad, recently stated that “With respect to wage hikes, we [TCS] have not made any decisions so far.”
Recently, TCS has also been under fire for the alleged onboarding delay of 600 lateral hires. The company’s recent moves have been attributed to the global macroeconomic tensions. However, unions and relevant ministries have voiced their own thoughts on the delays associated with the company.
