TCS has found itself in the spotlight for the wrong reasons once again. Recently, an employee, Saurabh More, began living outside the company’s Pune office in protest over his unpaid salary. A photo of him sleeping on the footpath, using his bag as a pillow with a handwritten letter placed beside him, has since gone viral on social media.

Saurabh More, an employee at TCS, has written to the company requesting the release of his pending dues. He resumed work at the Sahyadri Park campus in Pune on July 29 after a short leave, only to find his ID deactivated and his salary unpaid. During a meeting on July 30, an HR representative vaguely assured him that he “might receive his salary on July 31,” but no action followed.

When the payment didn’t come through, More informed HR that he was out of money and had no option but to sleep on the footpath outside the TCS premises. Despite this plea, he received no response and has reportedly been living on the footpath since July 29.

TCS has issued a statement regarding the incident, explaining that More’s salary was withheld due to an unauthorised absence from work. The company added that he has since reported back and requested reinstatement. The company also added that it has provided More a temporary accommodation and is actively working to resolve the issue in a fair and constructive way.

TCS recently made headlines with its decision to lay off 12,000 employees, marking the company’s largest workforce reduction to date. CEO K. Krithivasan stated that the move is part of a broader restructuring aligned with its AI-first strategy. In addition, TCS introduced a stricter benching policy last month, requiring employees to maintain a minimum of 225 billable days annually and capping bench time at under 35 days.
