Milind Lakkad, the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), has retired effective October 1, 2025.
TCS shared the news with the stock exchanges, announcing that Sudeep Kunnumal – CHRO Designate – will be in charge as CHRO from October 1, 2025. Kunnumal was appointed as CHRO Designate on March 14, 2025.
“Mr. Sudeep Kunnumal has been appointed as Chief Human Resources Officer Designate with effect from March 14, 2025, and will take over as Chief Human Resources Officer, upon superannuation of Milind Lakkad,” TCS said in its filing.
Lakkad had been a part of TCS since 1987, when he joined the company as a trainee. Over the next decades, he worked in a variety of roles, including his tenure as Global Head – Manufacturing from January 2007 to May 2019. Lakkad was appointed as Executive Vice President and CHRO in May 2019 and had been serving in the role for over six years prior to his retirement.
Kunnumal himself has been with TCS for over 25 years. He was welcomed into the company in September 200 as a Human Resources Manager. In August 2004, Kunnumal became Head of Immigration, North America and was then appointed as Head of Human Resources – Europe in December 2005.
In May 2009, Kunnumal took up the role of Head Talent Acquisition – India for TCS. This was followed by his becoming Director HR – Asia Pacific in January 2016. In December 2019, Kunnumal became Global Head Human Resources – Banking, Financial Services and Insurance.
