Tata Steel promotes Zubin Palia to CHRO India Manufacturing

Tata Steel has promoted Zubin Palia to Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) India Manufacturing.

“I’m happy to share that I’m starting a new position as CHRO India Manufacturing at Tata Steel!” Palia stated on LinkedIn.

“As the CHRO for India Manufacturing at Tata Steel, my focus is to enable future ready workforce while leading the Human Resource and Industrial Relations function for one of India’s largest and most iconic steel producers, driving workforce excellence across our manufacturing hubs in Jamshedpur, Kalinganagar, and Meramandali, Engineering Projects, Commercial functions, Finance and Accounts, Profit Centers along with strengthening Industrial Relations and CoE of contract workforce across locations,” revealed Palia.

Palia is a seasoned HR professional with a long history in the mining and metals industry. He is an expert in negotiation, executive coaching, labour relations and management, design thinking, and policy creation. He has worked in various capacities over the years to ensure the realisation of Tata Steel’s goals and objectives.

For over 26 years, Palia has been a part of Tata Steel. He joined the company in January 1999 as the Manager of HR in Jamshedpur. In April 2001, Palia was appointed as Facilitator of Total Operational Performance, focusing on cost, quality, and throughput. Palia then became Head Aspire in April 2003.

From April 2007 to April 2008, Palia served as Head of Manpower Planning and Career Management. This was followed by his appointment as Head of Industrial Relations in April 2008. In this role, he focused on policy formulation, compensation design, union negotiations, and TQM promotion.

In January 2015, Palia was given the position of Chief Group Industrial Relations, a role he held on to until July 2020. He was then appointed as Chief of Group HR and Industrial Relations (IR) in July 2020, focusing on various aspects of HR operations, including talent acquisition, performance management system, talent development, and much more.
