Reliance Industries Appoints Biswaroop Mukherjee as CHRO for Battery Business

Reliance Industries has named Biswaroop Mukherjee as the Chief Human Resource Officer (CHRO) for its battery business, effective July. He joins from Aker Solutions, where he served as Vice President – People and Transformation, overseeing the company’s people and transformation agenda in India.

Previously, Biswaroop spent five years at Tata Motors as Head of HR for the Commercial Vehicle Business Unit. In this role, he led HR operations across multiple functions, including commercial, engineering, and product lines, as well as the company’s operations in India and its international subsidiaries. He joined Tata Motors in April 2019 as Senior General Manager, where he led talent acquisition, employer branding, and academia relations initiatives.

Biswaroop brings over two decades of HR experience, having held key roles at leading organizations including GE Power, Deloitte, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, and ABP News Network. He also has extensive international exposure and is a certified executive coach and Hogan assessor, with a strong track record of managing multicultural teams across emerging markets in Asia, the Middle East, Russia, Europe, and Africa.

In his new role, Biswaroop will drive the people’s strategy for one of Reliance’s most transformative business verticals, supporting the company’s ambition to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2035.
