Nearly 5,000 Network18 employees are set to receive a portion of their annual performance-linked pay earlier than usual, with Reliance Industries advancing the disbursement as the group celebrates the stock market listing of Jio Platforms.

The early payout was communicated in an internal message by Anant M. Ambani, Executive Director, Reliance Industries. The move brings forward part of the variable compensation that employees would ordinarily receive after the completion of the performance year.

In his message to employees, Anant Ambani said, “Today marks another historic milestone in the remarkable journey of Reliance.” He added that a “celebratory release of your Variable Pay will be credited to you today” as the group steps into its 50th year.

Invoking the Jio IPO slogan, Ambani said, “Jio aapne banaya,” acknowledging the role of employees in building the business. “Behind every record we create is the spirit of our people,” he added in the message.

The final variable pay distribution will take place upon completion of the 2026-27 performance year, in accordance with applicable guidelines, the message said. The current credit is positioned as an advance, not a complete settlement.

The decision follows another early-payment initiative at Network18, where employees received October salaries on 15 October, around two weeks ahead of the usual month-end schedule. The company had timed that payout ahead of the Jio Platforms IPO.

The advance variable-pay release has been positioned as a recognition of employees’ contributions to the group’s growth and its latest corporate milestone.

Jio Platforms listed on the Indian stock exchanges on October 28, 2026, and became India’s second most valuable firm on debut with a 21% premium.

The payout lands during the Diwali period, when several large Indian employers release festival bonuses or incentives. Reliance’s move stands out against a broader backdrop in which several technology services firms have deferred or scaled back variable payouts for FY26.

The scope of the variable pay release across other Reliance group businesses, outside Network18, has not been independently confirmed.
