Launched on August 15, 2025, Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PM-VBRY) has since benefited over 2 million people, as per the Ministry of Labour and Employment in its Year-End Review 2025.
Among the benefited citizens, 20,70,135 are first-time employees. Similarly, 1,63,994 employers also benefited from the scheme, with 2,35,459 establishments registered on the PM-VBRY portal. The scheme was proposed by the Union Budget 2024-25 with an aim to support employment generation, enhance employability and social security across all sectors, with special focus on the manufacturing sector.
Using a budget of ₹99,446 crore, the scheme hopes to help in the creation of more than 35 million jobs in the country over a period of two years. Out of these, 19.2 million beneficiaries will be first-time employees. The first-time employees will, as part of the scheme, get one month’s wage (up to ₹15,000).
Similarly, the employers will be given incentives for a period of up to two years for generating additional employment as per the scheme guidelines. These benefits will be extended for two more years for those within the manufacturing sector. As per the date of the ministry’s report, 12 major aggregators have been onboarded to the schem, with many likely to follow.
