The Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES) has written to Union Labour and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya over the alleged delay in the onboarding of 600 lateral hires by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS).

In the letter dated July 22, 2025, NITES shares how the various executives hired by TCS were left in limbo as the company had delayed onboarding without any prior notice. Calling the delay “exploitative practices” and a “criminal breach of trust,” NITES asked to government to intervene urgently on behalf of the affected employees.

The lateral hires in question have experience ranging from 2 to 18 years and hail from all across India, including Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Delhi. NITES emphasised how they had resigned from their previous companies after receiving offer letters from TCS.

As per the letter by NITES, the new joinees had arrived on TCS premises on their scheduled days but were turned away by the company.

“When employees reached their assigned location for joining, security guards prevented them from entering the premises to speak with HR. Despite showing their offer letters, they were informed that their names were not on the onboarding list and denied entry,” Harpreet Singh Saluja, Advocate at Bombay High Court and President of NITES, shared with EdexLive.

Since then, the company has allegedly not provided any further details regarding the onboarding process, raising financial concerns for the individuals involved.

“Beyond the financial strain, the emotional and psychological distress caused by this sudden state of uncertainty is deeply worrying,” Saluja added.

“We can confirm that, as always, TCS is committed to honour all offers we have made, whether it is to freshers or experienced professionals. Everyone who has received an offer from TCS, will be onboarded. The joining dates are decided as per business demand, and in some cases, they do get adjusted to meet our business needs. We remain in continuous touch with all candidates in these cases and look forward to them joining our company soon,” TCS told the Economic Times.

NITES has urged the government to have TCS provide time-bound solutions to the affected hires.
