Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi proposed MANAV Vision at the India AI Impact Summit 2026.
Elaborating on it, he said that it stands for M (Moral and ethical system), A- (Accountable governance), N- (National sovereignty), A- (Accessible and inclusive), V- (Valid and legitimate). According to him, AI should be lawful and verifiable.
Commenting on the future of work, Modi said that when the internet started, nobody knew that it was going to create so many jobs. AI is also like that.
“Future of work is not pre-defined. It depends on our course of action. For us, the future of work is a new opportunity. In the future, humans and AI will cocreate, cowork and coevolve. AI will make our work smarter, efficient and impactful,” Modi said.
According to him, India will make better designs and better decisions with AI. The technology will yield better value and creative solutions. It will also lead to entrepreneurship and new industries.
But for that, “we have to focus on skilling, reskilling and lifelong learning as a mass initiative. Future of work will be human-centric,” he added.
Modi added that India has talent, energy, and policy clarity too. “I am happy to share that at this summit, 3 Indian companies have launched their AI models and apps. This shows the talent of our youth and the depth of the solutions and diversity that they are creating,” Modi added.
He said that India has to keep the big vision and responsibility. With the current generation, the developers have to think about what they are going to leave behind for the generations to come. “So, the question is not about what we do in the future. But it is about what we are doing now… Losing direction leads to disruption but the right direction gives a solution,” he further added.
Without naming any country, he said that some countries look at AI as a strategic asset and thus, keep building on it confidentially. “But we think AI is profitable for all only when we share it with all. So, let’s take an oath for the global common good.”
He said that global standards are the motive today. But keeping in mind the security threats, Modi suggested that there should be authenticity labels on content to avoid falling prey to fabrication and deeptech. Plus, AI at the individual level should also be parents guided for safe use by children.
