Reliance Industries Chairman and Managing Director Mukesh Ambani drew zero salary for the fifth year in a row.

According to the annual report shared by the conglomerate for the fiscal year 2024-2025 (FY25), Ambani’s lack of remuneration includes zero salary, allowances, and perquisites, along with “nil” retiral benefits and commission. Ambani also did not receive any salary from his position as a key managerial board member of Reliance Foundation Hospital Trust and IBN-Lokmat News.

Ambani stopped taking salary in FY 2020-2021, in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic and has since continued the practice. Even before that, the business tycoon had capped his annual salary at ₹15 crore, starting in FY 2009-2010.

Instead, Ambani earns from his stakes in Reliance Industries as well as the company’s various subsidiaries. Notably, as of August 8, 2025, according to the Bloomberg Billionaire Index (BBI), Ambani’s net worth currently stands at $99.6 billion, making him the richest man in India and Asia, as well as the 18th richest man in the world.

Reliance Industries has stated that “Neither the Managing Director nor the Whole-time Directors of the Company receive any salary or commission from any of the subsidiaries of the Company.”

Other notable compensation shared by the conglomerate includes Nikhil Meswani, Executive Director and Board Member, receiving a total compensation of ₹25 crore, comprising ₹7.28 crore in salary, ₹44 lakh in retiral benefits, and ₹17.28 crore in commission. Hital Meswani, who holds a similar role at the conglomerate, also compensated similarly.

PMS Prasad, the Executive Director at Reliance, was given ₹19.96 crore in compensation, including ₹19.37 crore salary and ₹59 lakh as retiral benefits.

Isha Ambani, Akash Ambani and Anant Ambani, Mukesh Ambani’s children, made ₹2.31 crore each in FY25 as non-executive board directors at Reliance Industries. They also made an additional ₹1 crore each through their role at Reliance Foundation Hospital Trust. Nita Ambani, having stepped down from the Reliance Industries board in August 2023, also made ₹1 crore through her position at Reliance Foundation Hospital Trust.
