With a new set of verification tools, LinkedIn has decided to crack down on the increasing job scams in India.
With expanded company page verification, recruiter workplace verification, and executive job title verification, LinkedIn aims to limit the number of fake job postings on its platform. The company stated that verification adoption in India has increased by 2.4 times, highlighting the demand for assurance when it comes to connecting, hiring, and applying.
LinkedIn has asserted that its current measures are already effective in blocking over 99% of fake accounts and scams even before they are reported. Between July and December 2024, the platform stopped 80.6 million fake account registrations. The company is also mandating verification badges on job listings, message alerts to identify potential scams, and a filter to display only verified job postings.
Expanded Company Page Verification
Previously, expanded company page verification was available only to established companies. However, LinkedIn has now made it available to others, including small companies with paid premium page subscriptions. As per LinkedIn, 85% of business buyers stated that trust is their driving factor when it comes to conducting business. With the new expanded page verification, LinkedIn hopes smaller companies can build better relationships with customers, prospects, and job seekers.
Recruiter Workplace Verification
As per the new Recruiter Workplace Verification, LinkedIn members who use recruiter-related titles like Recruiter or Talent Acquisition Specialist are required to verify their workplace. Through this, LinkedIn hopes to instil more hope and trust in job seekers by making sure that they know that the recruiter they are contacting is a legitimate one.
Executive Job Title Verification
Apart from recruiters, as per the Executive Job Title Verification measure, those in senior positions, such as managing directors and vice presidents, are also needed to verify their workplace. This measure is meant to reduce people impersonating those at leadership positions in companies.
