The Labour Ministry has summoned Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) to discuss the apparent onboarding delay of 600 employees.
The Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES) wrote a letter to the Union Labour and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya over the alleged delay, bringing the news to the limelight.
In response, the labour and employment ministry has requested that TCS attend a meeting with the Chief Labour Commissioner (CLC) in New Delhi on August 1, 2025, to discuss the issue. The letter from the ministry was addressed to the Chairman and Managing Director of TCS.
“You are, therefore, requested to please attend the discussion either personally or through an authorised representative not below the rank of head of the department, who should be well conversed with the matter and take decision. Written submission, if any in this regard, may be submitted in advance to this office,” the labour ministry said in the letter as per Business Standard.
The summons came after NITES claimed that TCS had delayed the onboarding of more than 600 people after giving them offer letters. Ranging from 2-18 years of experience, these employees were seemingly turned away from the company premises on their apparent joining dates. In response, TCS claimed that the joining dates are decided as per business demands, but the company is still planning to onboard the employees who have been hired.
