IT giant Infosys has introduced a cash incentive for its senior employees who conduct interviews for lateral hiring.

As per the policy, an employee will receive a stipend of 700 points/₹700 for every interview they take part in. This has been implemented retroactively with effect from January 1, 2025. Employees who have taken part in any applicable interview since then can claim stepends for the same.

The stipends will only be given for hirings within India. In case the interview is cancelled or the candidate does not show up, then the stipend will not be applicable. The policy is not applicable to HR and talent acquisition team members, subcontractors and titleholders (senior leadership) from the reward programme.

Through this stipend, Infosys aims to increase the interest of employees in being a part of the interview process. The company hopes that team managers and mid-level leaders will get external talent and reach out to more quality candidates.

Presently, track leads, architects, and project managers across job levels 5 and 6 (JL5 and JL6) at Infosys interview candidates for lateral hiring over 2-3 rounds before the HR round. As such, the incentive aims to keep the interviewers engaged in the process and look for quality hires.

Infosys also conducts weekend recruitment drives during which an employee might have to take part in about 10-15 interviews a day. During these interviews, the tech professionals evaluate the candidates on skills like Python, Java, Machine Learning, and DevOps.

As per an employee, Infosys used to offer leaves to the interviewers in compensation for their work over the weekend. With the cash incentive in play, the company likely hopes to interest more employees to be a part of the process. Some other companies who follow a similar policy include Honeywell, Accenture, and Sonata Software.
