Kanwal Jeet Singh Bakshi will take charge of IndiGo’s people function from July 20, 2026, leading talent strategy, leadership development, organisational effectiveness, culture and workforce planning as the airline scales its domestic and international operations.
InterGlobe Aviation, IndiGo’s parent company, confirmed the appointment through a regulatory filing. Bakshi succeeds Sukhjit S. Pasricha, who steps down as Chief Human Resources Officer after more than eight years with the airline and will be relieved of his responsibilities on July 19. Pasricha’s resignation letter, addressed to InterGlobe Aviation managing director Rahul Bhatia, cited discussions on “my professional journey and personal aspirations and my decision to move on from role as CHRO at IndiGo.”
Bakshi moves into the role from InterGlobe Enterprises, the promoter group of InterGlobe Aviation, where he currently serves as Group Head of Human Resources, driving strategic HR initiatives, leadership development and organisational capability building across the group.
Before joining InterGlobe Enterprises, Bakshi held senior HR leadership roles at IndiGo itself during an earlier phase of the airline’s growth. Earlier in his career, he led HR strategy at The Oberoi Group, one of India’s leading hospitality companies, and held HR leadership positions at Bharti Airtel during the telecom company’s rapid expansion phase.
His early career included leadership assignments at Usha India Ltd. and HMT Ltd., giving him cross-industry exposure spanning manufacturing, consumer products, hospitality, telecommunications and aviation. Bakshi holds a postgraduate qualification in Personnel Management and Industrial Relations from XLRI Jamshedpur and a postgraduate degree in Physics.
