A 35-year-old software engineer of Indian origin, Pratik Pandey, was found dead at Microsoft’s Silicon Valley campus, Bloomberg reported. He is said to have used his office access card to enter the building on the evening of August 19, with his body discovered inside the premises early the next morning.

Authorities stated that there were no indications of “suspicious activity,” and the cause of death is still under investigation by the Santa Clara County medical examiner. A viewing service is planned in the Bay Area this week, as his family arranges to have his body repatriated to India. Microsoft has not issued a statement regarding the incident.

A family member said Pandey was known to often work late into the night. “A joyful soul with a radiant smile, Pratik loved playing soccer, great son & friend,” reads an announcement for a viewing service in the Bay Area scheduled for Thursday.

Pandey worked on Microsoft’s Fabric product, a data analytics platform that competes with firms like Snowflake Inc., reporting to Scott Guthrie, the company’s executive vice president of cloud and AI. Before joining Microsoft in 2020, Pandey held positions at companies including Walmart Inc. and Apple Inc., according to his LinkedIn profile. He was an alumnus of San Jose State University.
