With the recent changes in the macroeconomic mindset across the globe, the Indian government has been encouraging the people in India to shift to products and services established within the country.
Union Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw joined the movement and revealed that he is shifting to Zoho for handling documents, spreadsheets, and presentations. Many see this as a way to encourage the adoption of Made in India tools and services.
“I am moving to Zoho — our own Swadeshi platform for documents, spreadsheets & presentations. I urge all to join PM Shri @narendramodi Ji’s call for Swadeshi by adopting indigenous products & services.” — Ashwini Vaishnaw on X (formerly Twitter).
Microsoft Office and Google have long been considered leading names when it comes to products pertaining to documentation and similar works. However, Zoho, an India-based SaaS (software-as-a-service), has also gained traction in recent years as a commendable alternative.
Presently, Zoho offers over 80 cloud-based applications for businesses, covering areas such as email, customer relationship management, HR, accounting, project management and more. Though it’s incorporated in the US, Zoho’s headquarters is situated in Chennai, and it primarily conducts its operations in Tamil Nadu.
Through his own shift to Zoho, Vaishnaw’s urging to shift to Indian alternatives is certainly obvious. From administrative tasks to documentation, it is evident that the minister hopes for companies in India to give a chance to home-built products.
