The Gujarat government is accelerating its development plans for a residential infrastructure in Dholera in order to support the semiconductor fabrication plant being built in the area by Tata Electronics.

With hiring and training for the employees of the plant being in full swing, the government is building 1,500 apartment complexes to accommodate the expatriates, Tata employees, and workers associated with the plant, as per The Economic Times.

As per the reports, 275 out of the planned units are already completed, with 225 nearing completion. Two hundred fifty of the completed units are now in use within the Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR). The remaining 1,000 units are expected to be completed by early 2026.

Tata Group is also putting in efforts to provide residential complexes for its employees. The company has been allotted 10 acres of land for residential development, where it is planning on building 530 apartments by the middle of 2027.

The under-construction ₹91,000 crore plant in Dholera is expected to generate over 20,000 direct and indirect skilled jobs. Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology, Ashwani Vaishnaw, claimed that the facility will produce its first chip by December 2026.

The Gujrat government is also building supporting infrastructure in the area to help the Tata employees, with the construction of a fire station, a school, a hospital, a desalination plant, a hotel and other amenities like a ‘Global Tent City.’
