A large section of India’s workforce juggles professional responsibilities while caring for elderly parents. To support them, Google India has launched a dedicated Elder Care Programme for its employees. The initiative offers comprehensive assistance in three core areas: emotional well-being, physical health, and safety services.
“At Google India, our employees are empowered to bring their best selves to work, innovate, and thrive when they feel secure about their family’s well-being,” said Shraddhanjali Rao, Head of HR at Google India, in announcing the program on LinkedIn.
The programme built around three key pillars will focus on:
- Emotional Well-being: Encouraging connection and reducing loneliness through online engagement platforms, personalised assistance, peer support groups, and regular wellness check-in calls.
- Physical Well-being: Offering proactive, comprehensive health support with full-body check-ups, convenient doctor tele-consultations, quarterly home visits, and vetted access to professional home care services.
- Safety Support: Ensuring 24/7 security through round-the-clock emergency coordination, immediate doctor-on-call access, ambulance evacuation services, and virtual consultations for elder-friendly home modifications.
The initiative underscores Google India’s continued dedication to understanding and supporting the diverse needs of its employees. It also reinforces the company’s broader philosophy of employee-centric innovation, extending beyond products to workplace policies that foster well-being, inclusivity, and support at every stage of life.
