Billionaire industrialist Gautam Adani received a pay of ₹10.41 crore for the fiscal year 2024-2025 (FY25).
Breaking down the remuneration for FY25, Adani’s pay comprised earnings from two of his many companies. He received ₹2.26 crore in salary and ₹28 lakh in perquisites and allowances from Adani Enterprises Limited (AEL). He was also given ₹7.87 crore from Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ), including ₹1.8 crore in salary and ₹6.07 crore in commission.
In FY24, Adani received ₹9.26 crore, which included ₹2.54 crore from AEL and ₹6.8 crore from APSEZ.
Though Adani saw an increase of 12% in his pay in FY25, compared to FY24, the amount is still much lower than what the other industry leaders in India receive.
In FY25, L&T Chairman SN Subrahmanyan took home ₹76.25 crore, and Infosys CEO Salil S Parekh received ₹80.62 crore. The year before, in FY24, Sunil Bharti Mittal earned ₹32.27 crore, Rajiv Bajaj ₹53.75 crore, and Pawan Munjal ₹109 crore.
Even compared to key executives within his companies, Adani’s pay is lower. AEL’s CEO, Vinay Prakash, was paid ₹69.34 crore in FY25, including ₹4 crore in salary and ₹65.34 crore in perquisites and variable incentives. Similarly, Adani Green Energy Ltd (AGEL) Managing Director Vneet S Jaain earned ₹11.23 crore and Group Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Jugeshinder Singh drew ₹10.4 crore. APSEZ’s CEO, Ashwani Gupta, earned ₹10.34 crore, and his variable pay will be disbursed in FY26.
The trend of low remuneration is now unique to Adani as a business owner. Since the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic, Mukesh Ambani has not taken any pay from his companies. Even before that, he had capped his remuneration at ₹15 crore.
