Flipkart is planning on expanding its workforce by at least 5,000 in 2025.
Kalyan Krishnamurthy, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Flipkart, and Seema Nair, Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) at Flipkart, revealed in a recent internal town hall, called Flipster Connect, that most of the new recruits will be dedicated to Flipkart’s quick commerce platform called Minutes and Super.money, its fintech branch. Flipkart is also investing in various artificial intelligence (AI) initiatives.
With its new recruits and push towards AI, Flipkart aims to make a space for itself in the rapidly growing quick-commerce market as platforms like Blinkit, Zepto and Swiggy Instamart become more and more popular. It is also expanding its dark store network, with plans to establish at least 800 dark stores by the end of 2025, as compared to the 400 stores spread over 14 cities. Krishnamurthy has stated that Minutes is “doing well,” expressing hope in the venture’s ability to be profitable without compromising on customer experience.
Time and again, Flipkart and its leadership have expressed their commitment to India and the growth opportunities within the country.
“We are inspired by the Government of India’s strong vision and proactive initiatives in fostering a thriving business environment and ease of doing business, which have significantly shaped our journey. This move represents a natural evolution, aligning our holding structure with our core operations, the vast potential of the Indian economy and our technology and innovation-driven capabilities to foster digital transformation in India,” Flipkart shared in a recent statement.
