In preparation for the upcoming festive season, Flipkart announced that it will be hiring 2.2 seasonal workers to meet the high demand during Big Billion Days.
The new jobs in Flipkart will be spread across sectors like supply chain, logistics, and last-mile delivery roles. The e-commerce giant will also add 650 new festive season exclusive delivery hubs in tier 2 and 3 cities.
In a press release, Flipkart shared that it will also be scaling up its infrastructure and tech deployment in 28 states as its Big Billion Days shopping festival draws closer. Through this move, the company has not only created 2.2 lakh job opportunities but is also expanding its last-mile reach and inclusive hiring in tier 2 and 3 cities, including Siliguri, Kundli, Jakhar, and many more.
“Flipkart’s ecosystem-first approach this festive season is built for scale,” the company said in its statement. Through the new jobs, Flipkart said that it will see a 10% rise in female hiring and will be specifically focused on creating more festive job opportunities for PWD (persons with disabilities) individuals.
“At Flipkart, The Big Billion Days is a celebration of scale, speed, and shared progress,” stated Seema Nair, Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) at Flipkart. “This year, we have strengthened our capabilities ahead of the festive season, focusing on building an inclusive workforce, expanding our supply chain people network, and creating more inclusive job opportunities in the ecosystem, backed by technology and sustainable practices.”
“Our focus on festive readiness is on creating lasting value for the communities and partners who power our network and daily deliveries,” Nair added.
Flipkart is far from the only e-commerce platform to ramp up its workforce count in preparation for the upcoming festive season. Amazon India has already announced its plans to hire 1.5 lakh seasonal workers for the festive season, across 400 cities. The company added that it had already offered jobs to over 2,000 PWD individuals.
