The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation has asked employers to enrol eligible workers left out of provident fund coverage under the Employees’ Enrolment Campaign 2026, which closes on 31 October 2026.
The campaign, notified with effect from 29 June 2026, gives employers a one-time window to declare and enrol employees who stayed outside EPF coverage during the period 1 April 2009 to 31 March 2026 and who are alive and in employment on the date of declaration, according to the Press Information Bureau release dated 22 August 2026.
The scheme offers specified relaxations to help regularise past compliance. These include a waiver of the employee’s share where it was not deducted earlier, subject to the campaign’s conditions.
Employers must complete enrolment and remittance through the prescribed online route. A Face Authentication-based Universal Account Number has to be generated through the UMANG app for each declared employee, and contributions are to be remitted through the Electronic Challan cum Return.
The EPFO said it is running outreach among employers, employees, contractors and other stakeholders, and has encouraged ministries, state governments, Union Territories, public sector undertakings and autonomous bodies to spread awareness of the window. Employers have been advised to review their employment and wage records and complete enrolment of eligible employees before the campaign closes.
