The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation’s new portal now lets members complete eight essential provident fund tasks online, from activating their Universal Account Number to filing withdrawal claims, without visiting an EPFO office or depending on their employer.
The upgraded platform, hosted at epfo.gov.in, brings a range of services under a single dashboard that members can access from a phone or computer. Members can activate their UAN, file claims, update KYC details, view their passbook and manage nominations, among other functions.
For UAN generation, the portal offers a “Direct UAN Allotment” option that lets individuals, in the EPFO’s words, “self-generate your UAN without employer request”, along with a separate route to generate a UAN for members with an active PF account. This removes the need to approach a previous employer or an EPFO field office.
Once the UAN is activated, members can file three types of claims directly from the member interface without employer attestation. Per the EPFO’s FAQ document, a “Member can apply for a. PF Final Settlement (Form19), b. Pension Withdrawal Benefit (Form10-C) and c. PF Part Withdrawal (Form31) from the Member Interface directly.”
Conditions apply to certain claims. For Form 19, the member’s date of joining and date of exit must be available in the EPFO database, the member should not be working in any PF-coverable establishment, and the claim cannot be submitted before two months after leaving employment. For most services, the prerequisites are the same: an activated UAN, Aadhaar seeded in the EPFO database, a bank account with IFSC code seeded in the database, and a PAN seeded for PF final settlement claims.
The eight services span UAN activation, direct UAN allotment, KYC updates, passbook access, nomination management, and the three claim forms, giving members a self-service route for the most common PF requirements.
