The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has provided employers with a six-month window to voluntarily enrol all eligible employees who were left out of EPF coverage between July 1, 2017, and October 31, 2025.
The allowance is part of the EPFO ‘s Employees’ Enrolment Scheme (EES)-2025. The initiative aims to expand EPF coverage and regularise past instances of non-compliance in a simplified and employer-friendly manner. The six-month window started in November 2025 to regularise past non-compliance.
Additionally, establishments that the EPF Act did not cover until now can now apply for the same and declare and enrol their employees as well. In case the employees’ contributions were not deducted earlier, the employer would be required to deposit only the employer’s share of contributions.
To encourage employers to take advantage of this opportunity under the “Social Security for All” scheme, EPFO will communicate with identified defaulting employers via SMS and email. A nationwide awareness campaign has also been launched to inform employers about the scheme’s benefits and provisions. Simultaneously, the matter has been taken up with various Government authorities to ensure the enrolment of contractual and casual employees under the EPF framework, the statement added.
