Goa’s Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant stated that workplace safety and health is a national priority at present while talking at the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) India Conference & Exhibition 2025.
“Workplace safety and health today go beyond regulatory compliance – they are a national priority. Safer workplaces mean stronger industries and a stronger India,” said Sawant.
The CM also emphasised the role of safety and health in the workplace, highlighting how they contribute to enhanced productivity and the overall growth of the country.
During his address, Dr Sawant also referenced the initiatives introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, including new laws and online platforms designed to monitor compliance and support workers. He also mentioned the steps taken by the Goa government towards safety and training programs for factory workers.
“Creating a culture of safety is essential for sustainable growth. Let us collaborate to build a safer and stronger India, with an eye on our vision for a developed nation by 2047,” stated Sawant.
Ram Dahiphale, the Joint Director of the Directorate of Industrial Safety & Health of the Maharashtra Government, was also at the event. He talked about the regulations established by the Factories Act of 1948 to ensure the safety, health, and welfare of workers across Maharashtra.
“In factory environments where people, machines, and materials interact, risks are inherent,” explained Dahiphale, adding, “Our role is to minimise those risks and create safer, more compliant workplaces. In today’s landscape, ensuring safety is just as important as fostering business growth.”
