Cognizant Technology Solutions, a US-headquartered software company, has announced plans to invest ₹15,820 crore in setting up a new campus in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. As per a statement from the state government released on Friday, the project is anticipated to create approximately 8,000 jobs. The campus is expected to be fully operational by March 2029.
The upcoming campus will be built on a 21.4-acre site in Kapuluppada, an emerging tech hub along the Vizag coastline. As part of its broader push to boost employment through IT and ITeS initiatives, the Andhra Pradesh government has offered the land at a highly concessional lease rate of ₹0.99 per sq ft.
Cognizant’s investment comes after a similar major commitment by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), which is investing over ₹1370 crore into the same area further reinforcing Visakhapatnam’s growing stature as a key technology hub.
Visakhapatnam West MLA PGVR Naidu (Ganababu) welcomed the announcement and thanked IT Minister Nara Lokesh for facilitating the entry of multinational companies into the city. “The IT minister kept up his promise made to IT employees. It is a commendable initiative to create employment for 8,000 people with an investment of Rs.1,582 crore. With this, the long-cherished dream of Vizagites is going to become a reality soon,” he shared in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
