Good news for Coal India employees. The company and its subsidiaries will award ₹1.03 lakh per worker as performance-linked incentives for FY 2024-25. An exchange filing stated that the total outlay for around 2.1 lakh employees will be ₹2,153.82 crore. The incentives will be credited on a pro-rata basis, depending on individual attendance.
Coal India produces over 80 per cent of the country’s domestic coal. The performance-linked reward (PLR) will benefit approximately 2.1 lakh non-executive employees of Coal India and its subsidiaries, as well as around 38,000 non-executive employees of SCCL.
The incentives were announced following the 6th meeting of the Standardisation Committee of the Joint Bipartite Committee for the Coal Industry, held on Wednesday, September 25, 2025. The bipartite committee, which includes representatives from PSU senior management and central trade unions, negotiates and determines wages and other allowances for coal industry workers.
In addition to Coal India, around 38,000 non-executive employees of Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) will also receive the performance-linked reward. The Coal Ministry estimated the total financial outlay for SCCL at ₹380 crore.
The Performance Linked Reward underlines the commitment of CIL and the Ministry of Coal to worker welfare, motivation, and recognition of contractor contributions. By providing the PLR, CIL aims to boost productivity, morale, and job satisfaction among non-executive workers, who play a vital role in the company’s mining operations and thus significantly contribute in shaping an Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
