Global process intelligence company Celonis expects to have around 300 employees in India by the end of its current fiscal year, as part of a multi-year plan to make the country a central pillar of its global operations. The Munich-headquartered firm outlined the expansion at its annual Celosphere 2025 event.
The company plans to scale its India headcount roughly fivefold to about 1,500 by FY27, which would represent nearly one-third of its global workforce. Celonis President Carsten Thoma, who also serves as the company’s CEO sponsor for India, said the country’s growing base of skilled professionals in artificial intelligence and process intelligence makes it central to the company’s future.
“When I left SAP in 2018, India had only two companies in the Global 2000. Today, just six and a half years later, there are 65. That kind of growth is fascinating to watch,” Thoma said. He noted that a large share of Celonis’ power users work in India and within global capability centres, adding, “India is no longer just about shared services. Decision-making is happening there.”
Thoma pointed to the country’s demographic profile, noting that India has around 680 million people under the age of 25, compared with 240 million across North America and Europe combined. He said the company’s internal slogan for the strategy is #IndiaIsOurFuture, a hashtag he had created around 18 months earlier. “There’s absolutely no version of this world where India isn’t crucial for the overall balance,” he said.
Celonis also announced a partnership with Databricks to connect its process intelligence with data intelligence, an initiative aimed at strengthening enterprise AI with richer business context. Founded in 2011, Celonis works with more than 1,300 of the world’s largest companies through its process intelligence platform.
The expansion adds to the wave of multinational technology firms deepening their India footprint through global capability centres, a trend that continues to shape hiring demand for AI and process talent in the country.
