Even as layoffs in the IT industry remain a widespread concern, Capgemini India seems intent on hiring 40,000 – 45,000 new employees in 2025. The company is focused on building an AI-ready workforce.
Ashwin Yardi, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at Capgemini India, told The Hindu Businessline that 35-40% of the hiring will include lateral hires. The remaining positions are to be filled by fresh graduates from over 50 colleges.
According to Yardi, Capgemini India has agreements with over 50 colleges and campuses, and the recruitment process for the current season has already begun. A key preparation for these new hires is upfront training in AI capabilities, ensuring they are immediately relevant for the evolving AI scenario.
Capgemini India’s decision behind the mass hiring stems from a major portion of the company’s work being diverted towards India. The CEO stated that the company’s clients are seeking cost savings and opportunities, which, in turn, is driving business to India.
In a bid to enhance its intelligence operations, Capgemini recently acquired WNS, making it the largest acquisition in terms of headcount made by the company. Currently, the acquisition process is still ongoing, pending final approval, which might take up to six months. Capgemini also has a history of retaining key executives of acquired companies.
By combining Capgemini’s consulting and analytics capabilities with WNS’s expertise and agentic AI, Capgemini aims to achieve significantly more efficient processes.
Capgemini India’s hiring initiative will allow the company to create a larger footprint in the India IT industry. With companies like Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Microsoft, and Intel announcing massive layoffs, Capgemini India will certainly stand out and attract highly experienced professionals.
