Axis Max Life Insurance has appointed Mrinal Sinha as its chief people officer, effective July 1, 2026. The move brings a two-decade HR veteran with deep banking and insurance experience into the people leadership of India’s largest non-bank private life insurer.

Sinha’s career dates back to 2002, when he started as an assistant manager-HR at Polaris Software Labs. Within two years, he’d moved to ICICI Bank, where he spent more than 11 years climbing through HR roles. He went from chief manager to zonal head-recruitment, then to zonal HR head for the south zone, where he managed an employee base of over 15,000 across 700-plus branches. A stint of about 18 months in Toronto, Canada, as senior manager-HR sat in the middle of that run, and by 2014, he was zonal head-North out of Delhi.

After ICICI, Sinha joined Max Life Insurance as corporate vice president-HR in November 2015. From 2017 to 2021, he was at Bajaj Allianz Life Insurance as SVP and head of HR business partnering, talent management, and employee relations. CARS24 then brought him in as chief human resources officer in June 2021. His most recent chapter began at Kotak Mahindra Bank in January 2023 as executive vice president, where two promotions took him to senior executive vice president and head of HR for the consumer bank.

In his new role, Sinha will lead the company’s people strategy, with the company pointing to a focus on building a digitally fluent workforce, strengthening leadership pipelines, and embedding a more agile, technology-enabled culture to support its next phase of growth.
